SEEDS OF DOUBT - EXPORT TO JAPAN: A workman waits for the next sling of non-biotech rice to be lowered into the hold of the Ken Shin Ship at the Port of Sacramento for export to Japan on Friday April 24, 2004. The rice sits atop plywood in a paper-lined hold, a cleanliness requirement set by Japanese buyers. The Japanese are wary of genetically modified rice. I'll wait another 15 years and take a look at your children and then decide whether to buy biotech rice said one Japanese businessman.
