1st: Firefighters work to rescue a dockworker after he fell of a pier at the base of the third Avenue Bridge in Manhattan October 4th, 2005. The worker fell into the water and apparently became trapped beneath the pier due to the heavy currents. Despite the valliant efforts of the rescuers they were unable to revive him.
