3rd Place: 1 2 3 ... 12 >; The Greatest Gift Of All Even before he was born, Stephanie and Eric Wittleder knew that their son, Lance, had a rare disease that would destroy his kidneys and threaten his life. Without a transplant the baby faced an uncertain future, but less than a month before his first birthday Lance received an extraordinary gift, a healthy, life-saving kidney, from his father. Late in July two teams of surgeons joined forces at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview in Minneapolis and worked for about five hours to successfully transplant the organ from father to son, thus giving Lance a chance to enjoy a happy, normal life.
