We are sorry to see so few entries submitted. With all the great work we’ve seen on the air around the country this category should have been full of competitors. We hope all NPPA members will reach out to their peers at the cable networks like National Geography, CNN, FN, MSNBC etc. and to news media like the Washington Post or NY Times to bring in some true competition.

One documentary “ULTIMATE FIGHTING – FROM BLOODSPORT TO BIGTIME” was deemed deserving of a first place award. The pacing and use of eye movement (especially with the file off air footage) put it over the top for us. Our hats are off to the editors. An Honorable mention was handed out to “AGAINST THE TIDE: THE BATTLE OF NEW ORLEANS” for it attempts to add some pace to a primarily talking head doc.
