Out of the five entries that where entered in this category this year. "Best Kept Secret" stood out the amongst the pack. The cuts matched the pacing of the story along with out distracting me as the viewer. The other four entries in the category did just that at one point or another. One story in particular was flashed up too much for the story matter. Granted there is nothing wrong with juicing up a story, just make sure it fits within the story matter. We discussed at length rather or not two other entries should place with an HM. Both of them had one problem or another in the editing. We felt they did not warrant placing due to over cutting of both entries.

the need for speed...lots of sound, not enough of the cars, not very memorable

this is where real democracy occurs...lots of long shots, kids mentioned no shots of the kids, odd ending that may have been better used at the beginning

the lessons are real...split screens seemed out of place. long shot continued on after the instructors sound bite, some good nats, but the ending didn't quite work

gosh it's cold...odd sot placement off the top. a couple of shots were used that didn't add to the story. frozen pipes mentioned but not shown

best kept secret...nice pace. good quick edits and sequencing throughout. best piece in this category.

best kept secret for a first place. I wouldn't remember anything about the other stories and feel they were not award worthy.
